Eyelid Surgery

Over time, changes occur in your eyelids making you look tired and older. In your upper eyelids you develop loose, sagging skin and excess fat. In your lower eyelids loss of muscle tone and excess fat results in bags. A blepharoplasty addreses these changes.

In the upper eyelids, the scars are hidden in your upper eyelid crease. Excess fat is also removed. In your lower lids the scars run directly below your eyelashes and out into the wrinkle line of your lower eyelid. Any excess fat is removed, and the loose muscle in your eyelid is tightened and repositioned.

The surgery is performed in an accredited outpatient surgery center commonly under sedation and occasionally under general anesthesia. Your sutures are removed in 4 to 5 days. You will experience bruising and swelling following the procedure that resolves over time. You can be up and around in the first 1 to 2 days following surgery, bruising typically takes 10 to 14 days to resolve.
